Smartlead pricing and what each plan really costs

Smartlead has four paid plans: Base at $39 a month, Pro at $94, Unlimited Smart at $174 and Unlimited Prime at $379, with about 17 percent off when billed yearly. Every plan connects unlimited mailboxes, and the plans differ by active contacts, emails sent per month and verified prospect emails. The real bill is usually higher, because mailboxes, white label workspaces and deliverability tools are priced as add-ons.

Smartlead plans and prices side by side

These figures come from Smartlead's public pricing page. Smartlead changes prices from time to time, so treat this table as a starting point and confirm the numbers on their site before you sign up.

PlanMonthly priceBilled yearly (per month)Active contactsEmails sent per monthVerified prospect emails per month
Base $39 about $32 2,000 6,000 2,000
Pro $94 about $78 30,000 90,000 30,000
Unlimited Smart $174 about $144 Unlimited 150,000 50,000
Unlimited Prime $379 about $315 Unlimited 500,000 170,000

The pricing model is simple to read. You pay for how many people you can keep in active campaigns and how many emails you can send in a month. Connected mailboxes are not a limit on any plan, which is the main reason agencies and high-volume senders choose Smartlead.

How much does Smartlead cost for a small team

For a founder or a single SDR, Base at $39 a month covers 2,000 active contacts and 6,000 sends. That is enough for a test campaign of a few hundred prospects with a four-step sequence. Most small teams outgrow Base within a month or two, because 2,000 active contacts fills up quickly once follow-ups overlap with new prospects.

Pro at $94 a month is where most working sales teams land. Thirty thousand active contacts and 90,000 sends a month support several reps running steady outbound at a safe pace per mailbox.

Is Smartlead Unlimited worth it

Unlimited Smart removes the cap on active contacts and raises sending to 150,000 emails a month. It pays off when you keep large lists warm over long sequences, or when you run campaigns for several clients at once. Unlimited Prime at $379 is built for agencies and large teams that send up to 500,000 emails a month. If you send fewer than 90,000 emails a month, Pro usually costs less for the same work.

Smartlead add-ons that change the bill

The plan price covers the sending software. Several things a working outbound program needs sit outside it.

  • Mailboxes. Unlimited mailboxes can be connected, but you still have to buy them. Smartlead resells Google, Outlook and SMTP mailboxes through its SmartSenders marketplace, priced per domain and per mailbox.
  • White label for agencies. Client workspaces cost $29 a month per client from Pro upward, and Unlimited Prime includes 3.
  • Deliverability tools. SmartDelivery, Smartlead's inbox placement and testing add-on, is listed from $49 a month.
  • Dedicated sending servers. SmartServers are listed at $39 per server a month.
  • Calling. SmartDialer is sold as monthly calling credits.
  • Extra verification. Verification beyond the plan allowance is sold as credit packs.

You will not need every add-on. Most teams buy mailboxes and some verification, and agencies add white label. It is worth listing the ones you will use before you compare the plan price with another tool.

What a Smartlead setup really costs per month

Here is a typical example for a three-person SDR team that sends from 15 mailboxes and runs outbound for its own company, not for clients. The plan is Pro at $94. Fifteen mailboxes at roughly $5 to $8 each add about $70 to $130 a month, depending on the provider. That team still needs prospect data. Smartlead's plan includes verified prospect emails, but many teams also pay for a separate data tool with stronger filters, usually priced per seat. And someone has to write the emails. With three reps, writing a researched first line for each prospect takes hours every week.

So the software line on the invoice says $94, while the cost of the whole outbound setup is often several hundred dollars a month plus rep time. That is not a reason to avoid Smartlead. It is a reason to compare total cost, not plan price.

A blacklist hit is the hidden cost nobody budgets for. If a sending domain lands on a blocklist, replies drop for weeks while you fix it, so many teams add email blacklist monitoring to catch a listing the day it happens.

Smartlead pricing compared with an all-in-one plan

Smartlead prices the sending. ColdReach prices the whole loop: the list, verification, a personal email written for each prospect, sending from your mailboxes and a reply inbox that sorts answers. The two models suit different teams, and the table below sets them next to each other.

Best for High-volume sending to lists you already own and write for Teams that want research, writing and sending in one plan

If you send 90,000 emails a month to a list you built yourself, Smartlead is the cheaper tool for that job. If your team spends more time researching and writing than sending, an all-in-one plan removes more cost. Our Smartlead alternative page compares the two tools feature by feature, and cold email software pricing lists every ColdReach limit.

Does Smartlead have a free plan

No. Smartlead has no permanent free plan. It offers a 14-day trial with most paid features except white label, then you choose one of the four paid plans, starting with Base at $39 a month.

Is Smartlead cheaper than Instantly

On entry price, the two are close, and both connect unlimited mailboxes. The cheaper choice depends on how many contacts and sends you need and which add-ons you buy. Compare total monthly cost for your volume, and see our instantly alternative page for how Instantly is structured.

Does Smartlead charge per user

Smartlead plans are priced by active contacts and monthly sends rather than by seat. Agencies pay extra for white label client workspaces at $29 a month each from Pro upward.

How much do you save with Smartlead yearly billing

Yearly billing saves about 17 percent. Pro drops from $94 to about $78 a month and Unlimited Smart from $174 to about $144 a month, billed once a year.

What is the best Smartlead plan for agencies

Most agencies start on Pro and add white label workspaces per client, then move to Unlimited Smart or Unlimited Prime as client volume grows. Prime includes 3 client workspaces and 500,000 sends a month.

Price the whole outbound week, not the sending tool

Before you buy, add up data, verification, mailboxes and writing time next to the plan price.
